The Riverfront Community Development Bond Promotes Sustainable Development along Maine's RiversOn November 6th, 2007, Maine voters approved a $35.5 million bond request that includes funds for riverfront community development, land conservation, Maine’s State Parks and Historic sites, working waterfront preservation, and agriculture. The Riverfront Community Development Program will provide $5,000,000, with funds to be used for investments in competitive river-based community and economic revitalization projects that will leverage $10,000,000 in other funds. Over 150 people attended the listening session, and over half of those presenting spoke in support of the restoration effort.
